Ride the Tide

Our progressive swim lesson program offers instruction from
non-swimmers to those ready to prepare for lifeguard training.
 

We offer 5 levels of swimming skills for you child to achieve- Snapper, Swordfish, Kingfish, Tarpon, and Marlin.

Each level has stroke technique, swim endurance, and water safety skills incorporated into it.

Swimmers will be grouped according to their ages and abilities. 

We offer 3 two-week sessions beginning on May 30.  Each session is composed of 8- 40 minute classes.  Each session has both morning and afternoon classes available.

Students on free and reduced lunch will receive a discount on their classes.  Please bring a letter from your school verifying this information.


There are 3 sessions for you convenience:

May 30-June 9, 

June 13-23,

June 27-July 7

Morning class times are:  9:00 and 9:45

Afternoon class times are:  5:30 and 6:15

Progressive Swim Levels

Snapper:

            Independently floats on stomach and blows bubbles for 5 seconds

            Floats independently on back 30 seconds

            Retrieves an item in a depth of 4 feet of water
           
            Independently j
umps into the pool once receiving permission

            Properly puts on a life vest, jumps in and floats for 1 minute

            Names 3 pool rules

 
Swordfish:

            Swims freestyle with proper breathing for 10 yards

            Swims backstroke with proper body position for 10 yards

            Can roll from their stomach to their back and float for 1 minute
           
           
Retrieves a submerged item in a depth of 5 feet.

            Jumps into the deep end and swims for 5 yards

              Executes the survival float for 3 minutes with a lifejacket
           
              Performs a sit down dive in the deep end           


Kingfish:

            Swims 25 yards of Freestyle

            Swims 25 yards of Backstroke

            Swims 25 yards of Breaststroke kick

            Swims 25 yards of Elementary Backstroke

            Performs a kneeling dive into water 8 feet or deeper and swims 10 yards

            Successfully executes 2 types of poolside rescues

 
Tarpon:

            Swims 50 yards of freestyle

            Swims 50 yards of backstroke

            Swims 50 yards of breaststroke

            Swims 100 Individual Medley

            Swims 25 yards of the Freestyle approach stroke

            Swims 25 yards of the Breaststroke approach stroke

            Feet first surface dive in 7-10 feet of water

            Head first surface dive in 7-10 feet of water
            
           Performs a standing forward dive
          

Marlin:

            Executes deck racing start

            Executes back stroke racing start

            Swims 50 yards of free with flip turn

            Swims 50 yards of back with flip turns

            Swims 50 yards of breast with turn

            Swims 50 yards of butterfly with turn

           Treads water for 3 minutes

           300 yards combination swim (free, back, breast)

           Safety Swim Medley
                      Swims 20 yards of an approach stroke 
                      Surface dives in 7-10 ft of water to retreive 
                                a submerged item 
                      Swims back 20 yards with the item
