Ride the Tide

Our progressive swim lesson program  offers instruction for
non-swimmers to those ready to prepare for lifeguard training.
 

We offer 5 levels of swimming skills for you child to achieve- Otter, Seahorse, Tarpon, Dolphin, and Shark.

Each level has stroke technique, swim endurance, and water safety skills incorporated into it.

Swimmers will be grouped according to their ages and abilities. 

We offer 3 two-week sessions beginning on May 31.  Each session is composed of 8- 40 minute classes.  Each session has both morning and afternoon classes available.

Students on free and reduced lunch will receive a discount on their classes.  Please bring a letter from your school verifying this information.


There are 3 sessions for you convenience:

May 31-June 10, 

June 14-24,

June 28-July 8


Morning class times are:  9:00, 9:45,  and 10:30

Afternoon class times are:  5:30 and 6:15


Ride the Tide
Progressive Swim Levels

Otter:

            Float on stomach independently while blowing bubbles for 5 seconds

            Float on back independent of swim teacher for 10 yards

            Go under the water and retrieve an item from the bottom 4 feet of water

            Jump to an instructor for a distance of 1 yard

            Know how to put on a life vest and jump in

            Can name at least 3 pool rules

 
Seahorse:

            Swims freestyle with proper breathing, kicking and pulling techniques for 10 yards

            Swims backstroke with proper body position, kicking and pulling for 10 yards

            Pick up submerged item from a depth of 5 feet by themselves.

            Jump in and swim to an instructor for a distance of 5 yards

            Execute the survival float for 3 minutes

 

Tarpon:

            Swim 25 yards of Freestyle

            Swim 25 yards of Backstroke

            Swim 25 yards of Breaststroke with proper technique

            Swim 25 yards of the Elementary backstroke

            Dive into 8 feet or deeper water and swim 10 yards

            Successfully execute 2 types of poolside rescues

 
Dolphin:

            Swim 50 yards of freestyle

            Swim 50 yards of backstroke

            Swim 50 yards of breaststroke

            Swim 100 Individual Medley

            Swim 25 yards of the Freestyle approach stroke

            Swim 25 yards of the Breaststroke approach stroke

            Feet first surface dive in 7-10 feet of water

            Head first surface dive in 7-10 feet of water

                       

Shark:

            Execute on the deck racing start

            Execute in the water racing start

            Swim 50 yards of free with flip turn

            Swim 50 yards of back with flip turns

            Swim 50 yards of breast with turn

           Tread water for 3 minutes

           Continuously swim 300 yards using a combination of free and breast

           Swim 20 yards of free or breast and surface dive in 7-10 ft of water to pick
          up a submerged item.  The swimmer must then swim back 20 yards with the item.


There are no excuses.....only results!
